[Announcement]
We think we’ve cracked it folks. What we are doing isn’t new, nor is it flashy or complicated, but it could very well change the face of local music events if approached correctly – we just need a little bit of help getting it moving.
Imagine being able to pay a local artist more than double of what they would usually earn from a local show, provide guaranteed income for grassroots venues and give new music promoters the tools and financial safety net to host a regular evening – with a 50% cut from the profits to fund their own projects.
It takes just 30 people per city to donate just £10 a month to provide a regular local music night in their area, starting with Exeter, Plymouth and Bristol to trial this new project. If you have any questions or would like to run a feature, interview or anything else, please get in touch! We need all the help we can get to make this project a success.
Let’s bring local music back stronger than it ever was through the power of community.

Esprit D’Air to launch livestream concert worldwide
On 24th October 2020 Immersive online virtual experience in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Esprit D’Air
Esprit D’Air is set to perform a special live concert to celebrate their 10th anniversary on October 24, 2020. The live performance will be streamed on their official website espritdair.com, where fans can purchase a virtual ticket to watch the concert live from their own homes.
Lead vocalist and solo project leader, Kai says;
“Like every other musician who cannot tour right now, we are taking the opportunity to connect with our supporters online—broadcasting in a safe environment to the world. We originally planned the live concert in London, so doing the livestream will allow us to continue performing, but it will also allow fans from outside the UK to connect with us too, so I am really looking forward to it!”
Partnering up with Single Music, Kai will be joined by Yusuke Okamoto on guitar, Kazuki Nishigaki on bass, and Andre Joyzi (Breed 77) on drums for this one-off special event. This special show by Esprit D’Air will also include the debut of some brand new songs from the upcoming album, Oceans due to be released in 2021.
As featured on HuffPost, Louder, BBC Radio, and Kerrang! Radio, Esprit D’Air is an award-winning melodic rock and metal band based in London. Their critically-acclaimed debut album crowned them as winners in the best metal/hardcore album of 2018 at The Independent Music Awards at the Lincoln Center, New York, among an esteemed judging panel featuring Amy Lee (Evanescence), Slayer, Sepultura, Tom Waits, and more.
Catch the virtual experience live on 24th October 2020 at 10pm BST, where viewers can shop, tip the band, and chat while they watch online. Tickets are available now.

BandBond launches
Created by Martin Brändström of Dark Tranquility; 300+ bands signed up; Loathe, Conjurer, Dark Funeral, Belzebubs, Kamelot and TesseracT speak out in support
BandBond, a FREE smartphone app that connects bands and fans, launches today.
Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/1Pd4MIlx0ao
Social media reach for artists can be as low as low as 5% on current platforms, meaning fans currently don’t receive all their updates, and bands don’t reach all their fans, unless they pay.
From today music fans can make a free account on BandBond and never miss a post from their favourite artists again. With BandBond, you will see 100% of all content that the artists you follow post. As well as native posts, BandBond consolidates posts from Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, so you can see everything a artist posts in one place.
Masterminded by Martin Brändström of Dark Tranquility, BandBond has been created by the music community, for the music community, to take communication back into its hands.
Over 300 bands, including Alien Weaponry, Behemoth, Employed To Serve, Lacuna Coil, Conjurer and Meshuggah, have already signed up to BandBond pre-launch with many more being added every day.
The idea of BandBond was born out of frustration when co-founder Martin Brändström, was in charge of the band’s online social media. It quickly became clear to him that the communication with the fans – that the band had earned over the years by touring the world and recording albums – now had a gatekeeper in the shape of drastically increased price tags set by the social media giants.
“The relationship between a band and its fans is unique and not something you can market like toothpaste or soft drinks”, Martin explains. “Without sponsoring a post you will only reach a fraction of your followers. It’s really kind of strange that someone can charge you to reach the fans that actually wants to be reached, and to make you pay for the display of content that you yourself, as a band, has created which generates traffic to their platform …”
Together with music studio colleague and long time metalhead Joacim Starander, Martin started to outline the idea of a new home for all things metal where the bands and the fans who share the love for metal can have their relationship uninterrupted and free.
BandBond 1.0 is just a starting point. Future features and directions will be dictated by the needs of the bands and the metal community.
“Within the metal scene we’re used to doing things ourselves. Back in the days when we didn’t get coverage in mainstream media we started our own fanzines, traded tapes all over the world, did local radio shows etc”, Martin states. “In these days, when you’re forced to use social media, it’s strangely harder for bands to reach out than it ever was. Within the passionate metal community we’ve taken control by ourselves before. Why not do it again…?”
The 300+ bands who have signed up all share the frustrations with social media, with Loath, Dark Funeral, Belzebubs, Kamelot and TesseracT speaking out to support BandBond.
Loathe state: “With social media seemingly restricting reach to supporters of bands and artists alike, we have teamed up with BandBond to promote their new application in which multiple feeds from your favourite artists merge into one to create a generalised hub for you to connect with. It’s an exciting venture and something that is extremely valuable given recent worldwide circumstance.”
Dan Tompkins, TesseracT: “It’s extremely frustrating that social media posts are so severely restricted unless you pay. As an artist that simply wants to reach fans it makes life very difficult. A solution to this problem is long overdue.”

The Ever Living deserted on Georgian/Russian border
UK band The Ever Living deserted on Georgian/Russian border while shooting music video
London based cinematic metal band THE EVER LIVING have been left stranded ‘in the middle of nowhere’ after their crew ran off with all of their bags (including passports), equipment and footage. The band were filming a music video in the wilderness near the Russian/Georgian border to promote their upcoming album Herephemine.
In a post published on Facebook last night, the band wrote the following statement:
“Still trying to piece together what happened today, but the short version is that we are currently stuck in the middle of nowhere. We are stranded, without our passports and the crew have abandoned us. We had almost finished shooting when some sort of local enforcement showed up which resulted in the crew running off with everything; including our bags and all the footage! Our guess is that this might be to do with permissions for the location but we don’t know whether it was this or something else entirely. Right now we are trying everything we can to make contact with one of the crew so we can get home!”
The crew was a group of local kids who keyboardist/singer Chris and guitarist Andrei met when they were in the Georgia last year for inspiration while writing the album. At the time of writing they had not yet recovered their belongings.
Their forthcoming debut album Herephemine is due to be released on 4th May this year through Chromism Records.

THEIA released new single and lyric video ‘Just Go’ in aid of RACPA
Midlands based rock band THEIA released their new single and lyric video “Just Go” today in aid of RapeCrisis & Rock Against Child Pornography and Abuse (RACPA).
The lyrics for the powerful track “Just Go” were largely taken by frontman Kyle Lamley from a song his father wrote 35 years previously, which was based on an incident he had been told about. This song is based around the subject of date rape, but using the hashtag #metoo it seeks to further raise awareness of the whole issue of sexual abuse. We heard that the video also uses public testimonies from victims.
The launch will seek to raise funds to help the selected charities by way of a digital download of the single being available. 100% of proceeds from launch until 28th February 2018 will be split equally between RapeCrisis(Click here to find out more) and RACPA(Click here to find out more).
“It is important, right and courageous to take these issues on and support and empower women, men, children to say No.” – RACPA
