Single: Love’s White Thread
Artist: The Battles of Winter
Release Date: 27th May 2016

‘Love’s White Thread’ is the first single from The Battles of Winter’s upcoming second album ‘At Once With Tattered Sails’. The single is due for release on 27th May with the album following later in the year. After the success of their 2014 debut album ‘Standing at the Floodgates’, the once London based post-punk/indie four piece are making another bold statement with their latest offering.

Currently ‘Love’s White Thread’ is available for free streaming via BandCamp.

Recorded during 2015 at the Hackney Road Studios with Steve Honest, the tracks initial feel is melancholic with its shuffling drums, rhythmic bass and deadpan vocals. The lyrics are like disjointed memory fragments tied together by a central theme of the written word and ‘feelings thought lost’. For me it conjures images of people and places half-forgotten but sadly missed. After the second verse the dynamic of the track changes with the arrival of screaming guitar and the reflective mood is replaced by one of frustration and defiance.

It’s certainly a thought evoking track, but somehow uplifting and one that you will want to immediately listen to again and again. And I am looking forward to listening to their forthcoming album.

The Battles of Winter are:
Alistair Gale (Vocals/Guitar)
Lucas Manley (Guitar/Effects)
Graeme Dinning (Bass)
Martin Good (Drums)

Marcus Halsey
