Today I selected three songs from my recent discoveries, which I would like to share with you.
I think it is safe to say that the songs are from all different genres.
“Crocodile” by Thomas McConnell
Pop Rock / Pop
“Crocodile” is a new single recently released; a happy catchy song that makes me smile every time I listen to it. It has already received airplay on BBC Radio 6.
Thomas McConnell is a 21 year old Singer/Songwriter based in Liverpool, England.
When his piano cover of Paul McCartney’s “New” was released in September 2013, it was then shared online by Sir Paul himself.
He wrote “Crocodile” after being inspired by Paul McCartney’s medley styled songs “Band On The Run” and “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” where he had stuck 3 or 4 little tunes together. He tells that he wanted to apply the twists and turns of that kind of songwriting to a jagged 70’s-esque/Glam rock track with dense Beach Boys/ELO style production and hazy synths.
“With Me Now” by Symfinity
Symphonic Alternative Rock
The official music video for “With Me Now” was only released a few days ago.
The beautiful melody goes with a piano, wondeful classical string instruments and flute. It is mixed well with a slightly sad and edgy vocal together.
Symfinity are a symphonic rock band, founded by symphonic rock solo artist Seann Branchfield with the help of flautist, Nicole Schroeder in late 2008, known as “Seann Branchfield and the Unnamed Band” from summer 2009 – summer 2010. They were occasionally known as “Seann Branchfield and the Unnamed Orchestra” during the same period. They have performed with over 40 guest musicians since the founding of the band. All of the music is original and arranged for orchestra. I believe they are based in New Jersey, USA.
“Cities and Satellites” by Mercury 13
When I listen to the song “Cities and Satellites”, it gives me an image of exactly what the song title says. The sound creates a nice epic scenery of orbit or space with a view of city lights in distance.
Mercury 13 are a 4 piece band based in Liverpool, England. That is all I know about them. I am sure that we will hear a lot more from them.
No music video for “Cities and Satellites” is available. You can enjoy the song on ReverbNation with using the link below.
