New Single: Epiphany
Release: 25.09.2020
Ashen Reach released their third single Epiphany from their upcoming debut album Homecoming which is due to be released on 16th of November 2020.
Straight from the off Ashen Reach show they mean business. Smashing in with the powerful chorus riff which feels like a refreshingly perfect blend of Hard Rock and Nu Metal without leaning too far in either direction. There’s something really clean yet dirty about it, the gritty riff with the refreshing guitar hook just really grabs your attention.
As the verse kicks in the dynamic changes a little bit, the drums pull back to a more rhythmic listen which allows for the introduction of vocalist Kyle Stanley. This pulled back dynamic pulls the song along before bringing back in the lead guitar as we build towards the chorus. The sound is almost reminiscent of Sevendust yet it still feels so unique.
The chorus brings back the opening riff which is such a stand out sound, the heavy riff and guitar hook are blended with the powerful vocal showing. You can really feel the emotion through the vocals, they tell the story of realisation that you’ve come to the end of the line, the lyrics ‘what are you holding out for’ seem like they’re talking to themselves, questioning, what are you waiting for? Why are you still going down this path? It’s time to make a change.
As the song continues, we reach the breakdown in the song which comes at the perfect moment to bring you back down to earth while building through to the ending. As it builds, the guitar solo kicks in, it has the real sound of absolution or of resolution, it makes you feel like you’re about to make a breakthrough in your life, like you’ve come to the end of the line and it’s time to change. This is met perfectly with the vocals which really drive through to the end, they really found the perfect vocalist for their sound, the almost operatic power is breathtaking and the perfect way to end Epiphany. Epiphany is a really great song and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. It’s so powerful and gripping, the lyrics drag you into the story and the powerful vocals just melt deep into your soul. Ashen Reach are definitely one to keep an eye on. In their previous incarnation, they supported Bullet For My Valentine and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them eclipse that in the very near future.
