AA Side Single: “Drag / Alien” by Valours

Release Date: 01 March 2015
Physical CD release: 18 April 2015

I felt rather privileged to be introduced to VALOURS recently.
They have been around over a year, yet somehow this was the first time I listened to their music.
I do not know the reason why they decided to create an AA Side Single, but they have produced some quality rock music.

The first track “Drag” is probably the stronger A side of the two.
The guitar based intro is supported by rhythmic drums, then slightly husky vocals join in. The guitar riffs are appealing. This is a powerful rock track which gets your foot tapping. They rock solidly. You can watch the music video for this song below.

The second song “Alien” starts slowly with a mellow guitar line followed by a high tone voice line. After showing the strength of their vocals, the tempo increases, and the music, and the music gets slightly heavier. They present their soft side as well as their hard side with this track. Even whilst having realistic and meaningful lyrics, the track sounds epic.

VALOURS were formed in mid 2013, based in Leeds, England. They spent their first few months writing. It wasn’t long before they hit the studio with Bob Cooper (Nai Harvest) to record and release their debut EP “The F Ward” in early 2014. Over the rest of the year, they played as many shows as possible including a UK tour in August.

2015 started off bigger and better with the boys entering the legendary Stakeout Studios (You Me At Six, Fightstar) with Chris Coulter (Arcane Roots, EMP!RE). The result was “DRAG / ALIEN”, a AA-side single which shows the best VALOURS has to offer.
Though the two songs were released digitally on 1st March this year, the physical CD launch will be hosted at the iconic Key Club (Slamdunk) in VALOURS‘ home city Leeds with a headline show in April, and it is sandwiched between a UK and European tour.
